Foundation to Empower over 5000 Youths in Anambra

By O’star Eze
Johnbosco Onunkwo Foundation has announced plans to empower over 5000 youths in Anambra State starting from Anambra South Senatorial Zone starting from September,2019.
Disclosing this at his cottage home in Umuchu, Saturday, the director of the foundation, Engr Johnbosco Onunkwo said that his foundation would launch fully into human capital development in the state before the end of September.
Onunkwo, speaking after leading Umuchu people in a road work, observed that many young people in the state lack direction when “millions of naira are lying fallow in form of agricultural potential in the state.”
In his words, “Apart from our medical outreaches and educational empowerment, we want to key into the diversification programme of the presidency in terms of human capacity development.
“A lot of youths are hanging around seeking for white collar jobs. There are no more white collar jobs and we have a lot of agricultural potential waiting to be explored.
“So, we want to empower our youths in crop and livestock farming as well as other value chains associated with farming. So we shall launch this project by the end of this month(September) and start training our youths in crop farming, livestock farming and other related agrobased business opportunities.”
On the reason for his foundation’s medical outreaches, Onunkwo said that his foundation went into aggressive medical outreach 15 years ago because he observed that many deaths that occur in the society are informed by lack of regular medical check-ups by the people.
“I started being concerned over the deaths that occur in our society from an early age and when I inquired, I discovered that most deaths in our communities occur because most of our people neither engage in regular exercises nor regular medical check-up.
“So our foundation decided to carry out regular free medical outreaches for our people in the communities as well as hold regular walks for our people to instill the culture in them,” he said.
